Where can you be yourself?

Let's face it.  Much of the time that we spend either at work or looking for a new job can leave us feeling out of sorts.  It is hard to be our true selves when we are trying to fit into a job description, person specification or impress an interviewer.

This is where frustration often seeps in and our job search seems to be an uphill battle.

Imagine for a second how you would feel if you could 'be yourself' in these scenarios?

It is possible!

Firstly, my support group The Career Change and Job Search Community is somewhere that you can be yourself and discuss the difficulties you may be having while job searching.  The group was created on Facebook in May 2017 and now has 300 plus members and growing! I have created it to give people a place to find support while job hunting or making a career change.

Secondly, career coaching can get you thinking about the right job for you. A job where you CAN be yourself.  This job could be part of a considered career change or a career change brought on by a change in your personal circumstances.  It is an opportunity for you to think about who you are as a person, what matters to you and what you need now or in the future to find happiness in your work.

Career coaching may feel like a luxury but the clarity and focus it gives you is so valuable.  It's hard to find the time or motivation when you are caught up in the day to day of work.  So many people I speak to are re-evaluating their jobs and ways of working but most of this goes on in their heads in the form of negative thinking and mind-traps that keep them up at night.

Imagine getting all that out in a structured way with focus areas and action points.  Imagine getting a new CV and LinkedIn profile and finally doing all the things you keep telling yourself you will do!

Learning new ways of thinking about your job search and turning some of what seems impossible into reality.

Most importantly, having someone to talk to on a weekly basis about how you are getting on and to support you to keep going. It may seem impossible to find the time but coaching can be short or long term depending on what you want to achieve. There are few places we can be ourselves when job searching and some companies make it hard to be really honest about where we see our careers going.  This is where the tired, old interview question "Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?" falls down.

If we were REALLY honest with our answers, I am not sure that anyone would get a job!

That's where unbiased, honest career support allows you to achieve your full potential and puts YOU in the driving seat of your future.
